Practical Kitchen Prep Guide
1. Pickling & Brining
- Vegetables: Add 1–2 tablespoons of your chosen blend per quart of brine when pickling cucumbers, carrots, beets, or root vegetables. Simmer the brine with the spice blend for 5–10 minutes, then strain before pouring over your produce.
- Fruits: For fruit pickles or chutneys, use 1 tablespoon per quart. Try Cherry Serenade or Tangy Apricot for stone fruits and apples.
- Brined Meats: Add 2–3 tablespoons per quart of brine for poultry or pork. Pinewood Pepper is especially good for savory, hearty flavors.
2. Mulling & Infusing
- Mulled Cider or Wine: Add 1–2 tablespoons of any blend per quart of cider, wine, or juice. Simmer gently for 15–20 minutes, then strain and serve warm.
- Herbal Teas: Steep 1 teaspoon per cup of hot water for a soothing, aromatic tea—Golden Sweet Harmony and Cherry Serenade are especially lovely.
3. Fermenting & Preserving
- Fermented Vegetables: Add 1 tablespoon per quart of vegetables before packing into jars for fermentation. Pinewood Pepper and Tangy Apricot are ideal for krauts and kimchi.
- Preserves & Chutneys: Stir in 1–2 teaspoons per batch during cooking for added depth and wellness benefits.
4. Everyday Rituals
- Broths & Soups: Drop a spoonful of Pinewood Pepper or Tangy Apricot into simmering broths for a warming, medicinal boost.
- Daily Wellness: Use the blends as aromatic potpourri on the stovetop or simmer pot.
